About the Just About Books Talk Show

Launched in May 2005, The Just About Books Show is a weekly, one-hour informational program hosted by author and journalist, Cheryl Robinson.  The Just About Books Show offers interviews and commentary from a fresh and diverse point of view.

The host and executive producer, Cheryl Robinson, has been dubbed as one of the “new leaders of the internet airwaves.” Her vast experience and contact with the literary world makes this radio show a “Don’t Miss” program—for a variety of listeners throughout the world.

The program features a high-profile cast of authors and guests. Guests for 2005 and 2006 have included:   Carl Weber, Mary Monroe, Marissa Monteilh, Dr. Kumea Shorter-Gooden, Hope C. Clarke, Scott Haskins, Max Rodriguez, Candice T. Dow, Vincent Alexandria, Dr. Uhuru Hotep, E. L. Previous book clubs showcased included: RAWSISTAZ Literary Group and the Divine Sisterhood Book Club.  Some of the upcoming literary events in 2006 will include: book club conferences, literary cruises, book fairs, book expos, and book club events.

Our Vision
The Just About Books The Just About Books weekly radio show is a talk show that focuses on the reading, writing and discussion of quality books, and it is a source of literary information for listeners throughout the world via the Internet. Guests on the show include well-known personalities and ordinary people, who are dedicated to books and writing. Cheryl Robinson uses her journalistic skills to deliver an appealing mixture of informational and entertaining forums every week on current, past and forthcoming books. In addition, listeners are encouraged to suggest books or share their personal bookshelves. Cheryl Robinson consistently packs the “virtual book discussion room” with listeners. 

Our Mission
The number one goal of the Just About Books The Just About Books weekly radio program is to provide high-energy and thought-provoking discussions that go beyond a book’s cover and well into the pages of understanding with authors, readers and book clubs. The Just About Books weekly radio program exposes African American authors—best sellers and midlist—and helps to promote their books to an international audience.  In addition, the Just About Books weekly radio program discusses local and national literary events of interest to an African American audience of “Book Lovers.” There is an estimated 500,000+ book clubs discussing books and these reading groups are attracting a great number of African Americans—all potential listeners of this new show.

Our Host
Cheryl Robinson has been a veteran broadcaster on radio and television throughout the years. She began at WMPP radio station in Chicago Heights, Illinois as a Teen Talk Show Host and has worked in stations throughout the country in such cities as Albuquerque, Dayton, Denver, Sacramento, San Francisco and Washington. She has enjoyed a diverse career, but her first love is writing. She is the author of A Forgotten Negro League Star: A Personal Look at Al Burrows. Cheryl also has a children’s book, Lana’s Dream, at the publisher and is currently writing a book on Sickle Cell Disease and a contemporary romance novel.

Our Strategy
Just About Books The Just About Books has a strategy to support and promote African American authors—both midlist and mainstream—literary events and book clubs.  And we’re intently working our plan.

Our Hopes
While Internet radio attracts over 5 million listeners a week, radio still remains a powerful medium for building an author’s fan club—we want to be help build fan clubs around the world. And we hope that each week, our audience will leave with an even broader awareness and a much greater knowledge of books.    After all, it’s Just About Books!
